01 / READ THE CODE, NOT THE PITCH
Which of 546 repositories are real?
Polymarket's open-source ecosystem exploded in 2026: roughly 14,500 public repositories match a GitHub search for "polymarket" (overlapping queries, not unique — 546 distinct repositories after deduplication). Somewhere in that pile are the production data pipelines, market-making engines and research frameworks that serious traders actually run — and a lot of empty shells with impressive READMEs. A small but measurable slice treats the install step as the product.
We set out to tell which is which the hard way: clone everything, read the code, ignore the marketing. Seven search passes (name/description, readme mentions, topic tags, category queries) produced the census; every non-fork candidate was cloned with full git history in three waves; each README claim was checked against the actual source — entry points, strategy math, data-source calls, order paths, tests. The review pass was AI-assisted, with every load-bearing claim hand-verified against the code before publication. Security-relevant files were inspected statically only — never executed, installed, or run.
Scores (x/10) reflect code quality, authenticity of the claimed logic, and practical usefulness for Polymarket work.
Several of these repositories also appeared in our earlier 25 open-source trading tools review; here they are scored for Polymarket work specifically.
02 / THE REPOSITORIES
Research & data infrastructure
prediction-market-analysis 9/10
Jon-Becker · ⭐ 3.9k · PythonThe best research-grade toolkit in the ecosystem: a DuckDB-backed indexer that captures Polymarket and Kalshi microstructure, wrapped in a calibration and analysis suite. Keyless to run, academically structured — the rare repo where the analytics code is more impressive than the README. If you want to measure how well prediction-market prices predict, start here.
GitHubpoly_data 8/10
warproxxx · ⭐ 2.3k · PythonThe community's data backbone: an on-chain OrderFilled pipeline (HyperSync/Envio indexing) joined with CLOB metadata that reconstructs full trade and holder histories. Same repo family as poly-maker. It now needs a free Envio token to run, but it's how most public dashboards get their data.
GitHubprediction-market-backtesting 8/10
evan-kolberg · ⭐ 1.3k · Python / RustThe most credible backtesting rig for prediction markets: a Rust-core engine with a Polymarket data adapter that replays actual order books, checks whether your simulated fills would have existed, and applies realistic slippage. If your strategy has never survived a book-checked replay, it has never been tested. pm-hftbacktest does the same at L3 tick granularity.
GitHubpolymarket-apis 8/10
qualiaenjoyer · ⭐ 197 · PythonA typed, Pydantic-validated map of the entire unofficial API surface — Gamma, CLOB, data-api, leaderboard, PnL, subgraph — maintained against production schema-contract tests. Fewer stars than it deserves; the endpoint atlas you check when the official docs lag reality.
GitHubpolyterm 7/10
NYTEMODEONLY · ⭐ 362 · PythonPolymarket in your terminal: regime-flip detection computed from CLOB price history and whale-flow tracking, exposed as both a TUI and an MCP server. Keyless. The kind of tool you leave running on a second monitor.
GitHubpolymarket-insider-tracker 7/10
pselamy · ⭐ 202 · PythonOn-chain forensics as a service: ingests the public trade feed and flags suspicious patterns — brand-new wallets making large, precisely-timed bets ahead of resolutions. A genuinely useful market microscope, keyless and recently active. A look-alike with the same promise, polymarket-insider-detector, runs its "analysis" on hardcoded demo data — this category attracts hollow look-alikes.
GitHub03 / THE REPOSITORIES
Official venue layer
Polymarket official clients 9/10
Polymarket · ⭐ 147 · Python / TypeScriptThe client layer, rebuilt in 2026. CLOB V2 went live on April 28, 2026; V1-signed orders no longer work on production, and the three legacy clients — py-clob-client (1.2k), clob-client (TS, 514) and rs-clob-client (681) — are now archived. For production trading today use the V2 CLOB clients (py-clob-client-v2, @polymarket/clob-client-v2); py-sdk and ts-sdk are the unified successors folding Gamma, Data and CLOB into one package — still beta, with parts of the surface visibly stabilizing. The legacy repos remain useful for studying the V1 EIP-712 signing scheme, but V2 changed the exchange signing domain — don't copy their signing code.
GitHubuma-ctf-adapter 8/10
Polymarket · ⭐ 121 · SolidityThe other side of the venue: the official contracts that resolve Conditional Token Framework markets through UMA's optimistic oracle. Not a tool you run so much as the ground rules every strategy trades on — it tells you exactly how a market dies, disputes, and pays out. Pair with ctf-exchange-v2, the live exchange core audited by Quantstamp and Cantina in March 2026 and released under BUSL, replacing the MIT-licensed V1.
GitHubpolymarket-cli 7/10
Polymarket · ⭐ 2.9k · RustThe official command-line tool: browse markets, place CLOB orders, split/merge outcome tokens, bridge funds, authenticate — from the terminal. The fastest manual workflow into every corner of the venue, and quietly the best documentation of its mechanics.
GitHub04 / THE REPOSITORIES
Execution engines & clients
nautilus_trader 9/10
Nautech Systems · ⭐ 31k · Rust / PythonThe industrial-grade algorithmic trading platform — event-driven engine with tick/L2/L3 order-book reconciliation and a long professional pedigree — and a genuinely maintained Polymarket adapter: it has grown across recent releases from instrument support to deposit-wallet signing, split/merge/redeem, book recovery with stale-feed detection, and condition-level resolution for expired markets. Prediction markets inside a serious backtest-to-live pipeline instead of a scripts folder. LGPL: review the repository's current license and your distribution obligations before closed-source reuse.
GitHubccxt 8/10
ccxt · ⭐ 44.7k · TS / Python / PHPThe legendary unified-exchange library ships a real Polymarket implementation: a ~3.4k-LOC venue module with proper EIP-712 signature handling, maker/taker paths and market-resolution semantics. If you already speak CCXT, prediction markets are one exchange_id away — probably the lowest-friction entry to programmatic trading on the venue.
GitHublumibot 8/10
Lumiwealth · ⭐ 2.2k · PythonA mature open-source algo-trading framework (~17 broker integrations) that added Polymarket for real: a 1,341-line CLOB broker, a dedicated data source, websocket streams and a dedicated test_polymarket_* suite. One API across stocks, crypto and prediction markets. Caveats: one venue among many, and the project discloses a BotSpot.trade commercial funnel alongside it. GPL-3.0.
GitHubpolyfill-rs 8/10
jtranq · ⭐ 233 · RustA production-quality Rust client whose websocket hot path runs on simd-json with ordered book-state maintenance. Low star count, high engineering: what you'd use for latency-sensitive ingestion on the cheap.
GitHubpmxt 7/10
pmxt-dev · ⭐ 2.2k · TypeScript / Rust"CCXT for prediction markets": one unified API across Polymarket and Kalshi via a local Rust sidecar. Ambitious and mostly delivered — though ~1.4k open issues and a stalled last quarter suggest the maintenance burden of unifying two venues is eating the team alive. If it stabilizes, it becomes the default layer.
GitHub05 / THE REPOSITORIES
Market making & liquidity
poly-maker 9/10
warproxxx · ⭐ 1.5k · PythonA genuinely serious market-making bot. The quoting engine implements Avellaneda–Stoikov inventory theory adapted to binary markets — fair value from the microprice, quotes skewed by inventory, toxicity and regime detection modulating spread. The math lives in quoting.py and it is the real thing. The most valuable open-source quoting module in the ecosystem.
GitHubpolymm 8/10
kachence · ⭐ 113 · GoA retired-but-honest 30k-LOC production sports market-maker: de-vigged book hydration from sportsbook odds, cross-venue hedging logic, the whole plumbing of a real shop. The author says he moved on; the code shows what a professional Polymarket operation looks like from the inside. Possibly the best study material here precisely because it's finished. MIT.
GitHubpolymarket_lp_tool 7/10
lihanyu81 · ⭐ 612 · PythonA liquidity-rewards specialist: real tick rules, queue-position risk management, reward-band targeting. If you want to understand how LP farmers position themselves near the top of Polymarket's reward tables, this is the playbook in code.
GitHub06 / THE REPOSITORIES
Agents & copy-trading
nothing-ever-happens 8/10
sterlingcrispin · ⭐ 979 · PythonA one-commit (squashed) production bot that sells "No" on every non-sports market, for entertainment. The twist: it's impeccably engineered — gamma discovery, CLOB reconciliation, keep-alive deploys. Atrocity of a strategy, textbook of a codebase, and a live study in how the venue's probabilities misprice.
GitHuboracle3 8/10
YichengYang-Ethan · ⭐ 559 · PythonA quant framework in the academic style: implied-probability arbitrage, cointegration and basket strategies between related markets, fee-aware throughout — with a real test suite per strategy and an MCP server for agent use. The data layer runs keyless. The most complete strategy-research skeleton we found.
GitHubpolymarket-paper-trader 8/10
agent-next · ⭐ 494 · PythonA paper-trading simulator that fills against live order books rather than mid prices, plus an LLM benchmark arena — one of the most actively developed community repos in the set. The harness for asking whether an AI agent can trade Polymarket without risking money.
GitHubphil 8/10
bennyjo · ⭐ 243 · PythonA live-running self-improving trading agent with the most honest architecture we've seen: an immutable core around an editable strategy layer, a Brier-scored forecast ledger, crash-safe real-trading state. The commit trail is majority AI-authored — openly disclosed; the human designed the cage the agent works in. Apache-2.0, 3.3k commits/90d.
GitHubcopybot 8/10
Abomination81 · ⭐ 110 · RustA self-hosted copy-trading execution engine: decodes target traders' mempool calldata, routes lanes, maintains resting maker orders, enforces budget gates. The most serious open implementation of "watch the whales, mirror their fills" — no dashboard, no marketing, just mechanics. Same theme, other dialects: PolyHermes (Kotlin) and MimicPolymarket.
GitHubCloddsBot 7/10
alsk1992 · ⭐ 3.1k · TypeScript / RustAn autonomous AI trading terminal spanning 1,000+ markets, with real cross-venue arbitrage and Rust HFT modules underneath the hype — plus the broadest collection of free API endpoints (news, social, macro) we've seen wired into one repo. Caveat, from the code and README: the project also advertises its own Solana token. Treat the signals as valuable and the token as noise.
GitHubpolybot 7/10
ent0n29 · ⭐ 1.0k · JavaA microservices HFT stack — market-data ingestor, ClickHouse analytics, strategy layer — reverse-engineering Polymarket strategies at tick level. Dormant since February, but the architecture is the most institutional in the open ecosystem.
GitHubpolymarket-toolkit 7/10
runesleo · ⭐ 201 · TypeScriptA CLI plus agent-skills for profiling any trader by address: tick-normalized spread scanning, Brier scores, markouts, fee-adjusted PnL. The right first tool for deciding whether a leaderboard wallet is skilled or lucky.
GitHub07 / HOW RISKY IS THE INSTALL STEP?
2% of the census asks you to run what you cannot read
All 546 repositories were screened for installation red flags, statically. The result: 11 (~2%) require running something you cannot read before anything else happens — a PowerShell loader piped from an anonymous domain, an encrypted 14 MB package unpacked by a launcher script, an executable shipped in a zip without source, or a paid client whose updater executes its own downloaded source (one pair of differently-branded repositories distributes a byte-identical payload). A further 7% mention curl-pipe-shell-style installs — almost all pulling from recognized vendors, which is normal practice; the destination domain is the signal, not the pipe.
Three static checks before running any GitHub trading bot
- Does the install command pipe a remote script into a shell from a non-vendor domain?
- Are there binaries without buildable source?
- Does any launcher unpack something opaque?
Five minutes on the Files tab eliminates the entire risk class. Separately: two repositories had live-format private keys committed in public — yours should never be one of them, and a key you find in someone else's repo is for reporting, not visiting.
08 / ALSO SCORED 7
Worth a look
09 / NOTABLE NEAR-MISSES
The merely empty
Beyond the structural risks above, the review surfaced instructive mismatches between claim and code. In every case the code simply isn't there — which is exactly why the code-first method mattered here. Attention itself is farmable: one repository shows 1,115 commits and 123 stars across six files containing no source code at all. another holds 1,002 stars on pure readme referral links. a third packs 289k machine-generated lines around a hollow skeleton.
10 / PERPS: THE NEXT TOOLING WAVE
Perpetuals are the gap to watch
One category is conspicuously thin in this census: tooling for Polymarket's newly launched perpetual futures. Perps change the trading problem — funding rates, leverage and liquidation logic replace binary resolution — and that usually pulls a dedicated tooling wave behind it. Today the pickings are slim: only a handful of repositories target perps at all, for example bykaralord25/polymarket-perps-bot, and none carry meaningful star counts yet. We read that as timing, not lack of interest — the product is weeks old, and the builders haven't caught up. Expect this gap to fill quickly; it is the most likely source of the next generation of Polymarket tools, and a category we will revisit in this series.
Perps access is currently invite-gated. If you plan to try them, our invite link supports this research: polymarket.com/perps — invite code 01bsusbe. This is a referral link, not an independent recommendation; Tensorsoft may receive compensation from eligible activity.
11 / CONCLUSION
The free alpha is in reading the code before trusting it
Reviewing all 546 repositories at code level changed our picture of this ecosystem in three ways. First, the center of gravity is the official layer — and it's churning: Polymarket rebuilt its exchange stack in 2026 (CLOB V2 live since April 28, the three legacy clients archived, a new BUSL-licensed exchange core), which broke a large share of community tooling built on the old signing paths. Any pre-V2 integration code needs re-validation. Second, the community's real work has standardized on three architectures — market-making engines with inventory math, copy-trading execution engines reading the mempool, and agent frameworks with scoring ledgers — and the credible repositories in each category now differ mostly in engineering honesty rather than concept. Third, about 2% of the screened repositories carry installation patterns consistent with honeypots, and because traders find tools by stars, that 2% is disproportionately visible. The encouraging part: the pattern is objectively detectable in five minutes of static reading.
Our practical advice: build on the research and data tools for understanding, on the official V2 clients, nautilus_trader or ccxt for execution plumbing, and treat every other strategy repository as a specification to re-implement, not software to run. Verify install instructions line by line. In an ecosystem this young, the free alpha isn't in any single bot — it's in reading the code before trusting it.
12 / METHOD & LIMITATIONS
How the census was built
Methodology: 546-repository census (November 1, 2026), all candidates cloned (552 entries including repositories reachable through more than one search path and deduplicated at verdict time) with AI-assisted code review and hand-verification of load-bearing claims; security payloads inspected statically, never executed. Statistics (stars, commits, contributors, activity windows) are taken from GitHub's public API and git history on the review date.
- Stars, commit counts and activity windows are a snapshot from the review date, not live figures; repositories change.
- Scores reflect the supplied Tensorsoft review's judgment of code quality, authenticity and usefulness — not independently verified guarantees.
- Inspection was static: repositories were never executed, installed or run. No endpoint availability was re-checked for this publication.
- Backtesting methods, leaderboards and agent performance do not establish profitability. Live execution and market making can cause financial loss.
- Check each repository's current license and dependency obligations before reuse. The license notes above are not legal advice.
For research and informational purposes only. Not investment advice or an endorsement of any trading system. Prediction markets carry risk of total loss; Polymarket access is restricted in some jurisdictions — check your local regulations before using any of these tools, and remember that running a bot with a key you didn't audit is its own category of risk.
